ADVENTURES > WAITING

As I have mentioned before, my girls need quite a bit of time to get in heat. Waiting seems so long, but if you have to wait for 5 or 6 months until the right girl gets in touch with her hormones.... Mirre had me waiting for months and months before each pregnancy. Now Charo too has kept me waiting for several months before unleashing her hormones.

When it was finally time, she started to give clear signals. But she took her time to get going. So I thought, after all the waiting, we could wait a bit more for the next period. However could I have thought that?! Just as I had taken the decision, she started her period without any hesitation. She even started to spray.

All I could do was to put up a couple of benches and lock the lady up in there. She let me. The first half hour she tried to get out, but after that she relaxed and went to sleep in her basket. That went better than I had imagined. As soon as her period was over, I let her out. The benches were cleaned and put away with the thought that I wouldn't be needing them any time soon.

On Friday afternoon she regained her freedom and the next Wednesday evening I caught her spraying again. As a madman I put up the benches again, opened the door and.... Charo walked in all by herself. Then I send an e-mail to the studs owners and made arrangements to bring her there two evenings later.





Charo is just as fond of driving by car as her granny (not!!). By the time we arrived, there were no signs what so ever of my more than clear cat in heat. The stud was all in the mood and more then ready to welcome her. Charo wasn't so sure yet. She hisses and grumbled a bit, but he took no notice of that. When he had the nerve to put two feet in her crate, she hit him very quickly and slapped his ears. He slunk off immediately.

After a while she was prepared to take a look around, but that stud wasn't to think that he could come anywhere close. She kept that up for the next day and a half, but then the hormones kicked in irrevocable. Especially at night time you could hear her cry out. First to indicate that she was soooo in heat, after that to let us know that the stud had done his job.

A week later she came home again and the waiting started all over again. When three weeks had passed, she appeared to be pregnant. Hurray!! You can't tell by looking at her figure. But the hairs around her nipples have flattened and the nipples themselves have coloured beautifully. First they were a palish pink, now they are almost red.





Now al we can do is wait some more, in this case to the end of June. Then she's due. We hope for a prosperous delivery and healthy kittens.
